Comparison

SlopeWorks compared to an ordinary travel agency.

There are roughly two kinds of provider you meet when looking for a corporate ski trip. Here we explain how SlopeWorks relates to them, without a sales pitch.

The three routes

Three ways down the same mountain

One mountain, three lines down. Which route suits you depends on your team, your budget and how hands-on you want to be, not on which is 'best'.

The long read

Why people look for an alternative

Most companies organising a ski trip run into the same problem. Someone has to do it on top of their own job, and booking a package is quickly done, but it often feels like a standard trip with a different logo on it. The organiser mostly hears afterwards about the things that weren't quite right: the hotel that was further from the lift than expected, the restaurant that couldn't handle a group of twenty.

That's no reproach to the existing providers. Both types do what they promise, at scale and with plenty of experience. It's a different choice: scale and convenience, or a smaller, personal approach.

The generalist: sharp prices, broad offering

Some providers are first and foremost a holiday tour operator. Wintersport group trips are then one part of a broader offering that also includes sun holidays and family trips. With hundreds of destinations and a strong negotiating position with ski areas, the strength lies in price and choice, not in specialisation in corporate trips.

For a company mostly watching its budget, with little need for a tailored programme, that's a logical choice. For a team looking for an experience that fits their own culture, such a generalist package offers little to hold on to.

Choose a generalist if

Budget is the most important factor, you want to book quickly without much coordination, and a standard programme works for the group.

The engineered red

The specialist: a strong, repeatable operation

Other providers have devoted themselves entirely to corporate wintersport, at a scale that commands respect: hundreds of companies and thousands of participants a year, often with well-known names as clients. A booking portal and app keep the process tightly organised, and every group gets a fixed contact.

That scale has another side. This kind of provider works with a select number of fixed destinations and a programme tuned per sector, but always within a fixed structure. A strong choice for a company seeking a reliable, repeatable experience. For a team that wants something not every other client experiences that season too, it's less distinctive.

Choose a specialist if

You have a large group, want a fully automated process via a booking portal, and a proven, repeatable approach matters more than bespoke work.

The guided line

SlopeWorks: smaller, but from first-hand experience

SlopeWorks deliberately chooses a different starting point. Rather than scaling to thousands of participants, we work with a limited number of groups per season. Every area we propose (Sölden, Mayrhofen, St. Anton, Kitzbühel, Zell am See or Gstaad) we've visited ourselves. We know the hotel owners by name and know which restaurant can serve a group of twenty without compromising on quality.

That also means an honest limitation: we can't send a quote within 48 hours the way a large specialist can, and we're not the cheapest option. What we do offer is a programme built around a specific team, with knowledge that doesn't come from a catalogue.

Choose SlopeWorks if

Your team is between 15 and 40 people, you want a programme that fits who you are, and you value a provider that knows the area itself rather than from a database.
