About SlopeWorks

We believe the person who organises the ski trip should get to come along too

SlopeWorks is Carmen ter Heide and Bas Lazaroms. We organise complete company ski trips in Austria and Switzerland, not from a catalogue, but by visiting every area ourselves. In the end it isn't about how many areas we know, but about knowing which area fits which team.

Our story

How SlopeWorks began

Carmen and Bas will happily talk about skiing the moment the temperature dips below 20 degrees. Which is fairly often. A friend of ours heard it often enough and at some point said: “If you love skiing this much, why don't you organise ski trips for companies?” Good question, really. That's how SlopeWorks began.

Today we organise complete ski trips for companies in Austria and Switzerland. And the more we do it, the clearer one thing becomes: a good company ski trip doesn't start with the ski area, but with the people going along. That's why we first want to know who you are. Who can ski? Who never has? Who's at the first lift at half past eight, and who values a long lunch just as much? Do you mainly want a great time, or should the trip also do something for the team?

Then we work out which destination fits and arrange the rest: from transport and hotel to lift passes, equipment, lessons, restaurants, activities and communication with the participants. And during the trip, we're there in person. Because however much we enjoy talking about skiing, in the end the person who got the trip going internally should above all be able to enjoy it themselves.

One point of contact

From the first conversation to the last descent

With us, you don't first speak to someone in sales only to be handed off to three other people. Carmen and Bas are involved in the preparation and come along on the trip too. Above all, that means the person solving something during the trip knows exactly what was agreed beforehand. If a restaurant changes, someone turns out to need a ski lesson, or the programme has to shift because of the weather, you don't have to start calling and arranging things yourself. We do that.

Seen for ourselves

Why we go to the areas ourselves

We could of course put together a list of hotels from the Netherlands or Belgium and build a nice programme around it. But then we still wouldn't know what it's really like. That's why we go to the areas we work with ourselves. We ski there, view the hotels, try out the activities and talk to local partners. Sometimes that turns up a fantastic hotel, sometimes a restaurant we'd never take a group to. And sometimes we discover that a hotel five minutes away is a far better choice than the pricier one right next to the lift. You won't spot that kind of thing on Google Maps.

Small on purpose

A limited number of trips per season

During a company ski trip, we want to be there ourselves. That automatically means we can't send twenty groups to the Alps every weekend. And we don't want to. We'd rather work with a limited number of groups and stay involved in the trip ourselves than take on as many bookings as possible and then leave the delivery to someone else. So when a request comes in, we don't just look at whether a hotel is still available somewhere, but also at whether we can organise the trip the way we want to.
